What is the best month for a yoga retreat?

There is no single best month; there is a best destination for each month. January to April suits Thailand, Sri Lanka and Costa Rica. May, June, September and October suit Portugal, Greece, Italy and Morocco. Bali works most of the year, driest April to October.

Shoulder season is the real answer

The same retreat, at the same venue, with the same teacher, typically costs 20–35% less in shoulder season than in peak, with smaller groups and often better weather. Greece in late September beats Greece in early August on every measure including temperature. If the dates are flexible at all, this is the largest single saving available.

What is the cheapest country for a yoga retreat?

Morocco, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India and Vietnam are the cheapest, at $150 to $280 per person per day with a private room included. Morocco is the best value of the group because flights from Europe are short and cheap, so the total trip cost lands lowest.

How much does a solo yoga retreat cost?

A well-run yoga retreat costs $150 to $650 per person per day with a private room included. Thailand and Sri Lanka sit at $150–280, Bali $200–380, Portugal $250–400, Greece and Costa Rica $350–550. A seven-night week therefore runs roughly $1,050 to $3,850.

Is a retreat a good first solo trip?

It is the easiest first solo trip there is. You unpack once, transfers and meals are handled, and around 40% of the people there also arrived alone, so nobody has to explain themselves. For a first time, pick a shorter week in an easy-transfer destination rather than the most exotic option.
