Solo retreats in Greece
Greece is the beauty premium on our map, and Paros is the Cyclades with the volume turned down: Mykonos's looks without the velvet ropes. It is a summer destination with a real constraint most listings skip, the meltemi wind, which decides whether a sailing day happens. Budget $350 to $550 a day.

Practical notes
Getting there
Fly Athens (ATH) then a 3-hour ferry from Piraeus, or a 40-minute hop to Paros airport (PAS). Port and airport pickups are included.
Worth your free time
- Naoussa old port. Venetian kastro half-sunk in the harbour mouth.
- Kolymbithres. Granite boulders sculpted into swimming coves.
- Lefkes. Marble mountain village on the old Byzantine road.
- Antiparos. Ten-minute ferry to an even slower island and a serious cave.
Eat this
- Gouna. Sun-dried mackerel grilled over coals, a Paros speciality.
- Ouzo and mezedes at the port. Order the small plates and let the evening decide.
- Local wine. Monemvasia and Mandilaria grapes grown behind the beach.

What is the meltemi and does it matter?
A dry north wind that blows hardest in late July and August. It can cancel sailing days and make ferries lumpy. Ask any Greek retreat how their boat day flexes around it; ours moves rather than cancels.
Is September better than August?
Usually yes for a solo traveller: the sea is at its warmest, the wind has eased, prices soften and the islands empty out.
Are ferries a problem when travelling alone?
Only if you book late; high-summer sailings sell out. We book yours with the room so the connection is not your problem.
