Digital detox retreats for solo travellers

Digital detox is oversold and under-explained. In practice the useful version is optional and gradual: your phone is held during the day and returned each evening, so you can still message home. About half of each Bali group opts in by day three, usually after watching someone else look noticeably calmer.

Questions people ask

Do I have to give up my phone completely?

No, and we would be wary of any retreat that insists. Ours is opt-in, daytime only, with the phone returned each evening so you can contact home. Compulsory confiscation is a safety problem, not a wellness feature.

What if someone needs to reach me urgently?

Every route has a named 24/7 local contact whose number your family can hold. Urgent messages reach you within minutes regardless of where your phone is.

Is a silent retreat the same thing?

No. Silent retreats restrict speech, which is a much bigger commitment. Our silent option covers mornings only and is separate from the phone question.

Not sure which one?

Six questions, sixty seconds, and a match out of eight countries. Or check any retreat's price against our benchmarks first.
